Global warming data fraud is being claimed by the “friends of pollution and greed” as being evidence that climate change caused by human activity does not exist.  This claim is reminiscent of the claim that energy efficiency will lead to greater energy consumption, and the claim that the push towards cleaning up the environment will cause energy cost to sky-rocket and destroy the economy.  The fact is all of these claims are false and driven by caveman-style irrationality fuelled by greed and fear.

From the beginning of human society, arrogant and ignorant people have always been reluctant to embrace change and the unscrupulous ones often manipulate the rest with bullying and scare tactics to resist change.  But, we know from hindsight that these unscrupulous ones are doomed to failure because their motivation is always irrational greed and fear.

What these irrational cavemen instigators won't tell you is the truth about scientific research.  Climate change research, like other scientific fields, uses a wide variety of data sources to track past trends and predict future ones.  Most data sources are relevant but some are not.  Similarly the actions and motivations of most climate scientists are virtuous but some will be misdirected or misguided.  Fortunately, irrelevant data sources and misguided scientists number among the minority and, more importantly, the majority of reasearch stands on its own and is not undermined by those that may be fraudulent.

The rising response against global warming itself presents us with the most recent and relevant demonstration of the irrationality of these money-grabbing cavemen.  In late 2008, they perpetrated a deliberate and irrational spiking of oil prices in order to overstuff their pockets and scare people away from becoming energy efficient and environmentally friendly. 

While it is true that the economy suffered from high oil prices, it is also true that the short-term oil price spike actual drove people to take more steps to control their cost by becoming more energy efficient.   Energy efficiency will never lead to greater consumption because energy efficiency actually helps us to spend less money… who doesn’t want to spend less money?  The paradox for these money-grabbing cavemen is that the resultant reduction in the need for energy has bitten them in the butt and made them hesitate before triggering the next spike in oil prices.

I said “the next spike” because I know that the irrational greed of these money-grabbing cavemen will force them to try over-stuff their pocket again by attempting scaring us with another oil-price spike.  This current attempt to attack the theory of climate change induced by human activity is simply a prelude to this next spike. 

The fact that the next spike in oil prices has not yet materialize is solely due to the fact that such an event will drive the rest of us more and more towards energy self-sufficiency and these greedy cavemen can’t figure out how to prevent it.  They will try to spike oil prices again because their greed and irrationality compels them and they would rather damage the broader economy than embrace the truth about global warming. 

The truth that must open our eyes is that we can use their irrational fear and greed to actually protect the economy and the environment.  What we the people must realize is that only our resolve to achieve a cleaner and greener environment will keep oil prices low because the ignorance and fearful nature of these pollution pushers will force them to undercut our efforts by enticing us with cheaper oil. 

Cheaper oil prices will insulate the economy and we can use the time it buys us to promote a lasting change that actually reduces our need and tendency to pollute the environment.  It sounds paradoxical but it is a capitalistic truth… law of supply and demand, and the wisdom on which we need to focus in order to improve the economy.

Change drives innovation.  Innovation is what drives the economy and energy greases its wheels.  Change is the only thing that can turn a stagnant economy around and energy innovation is the vessel for the next big change.  President Obama is absolutely correct.  If we miss this chance to change and innovate in the energy sector then our economy will not thrive and other nations wise enough to seize this opportunity will lead the world.

So don’t be side-track by this latest irrelevant claim of climate change data fraud.  This faulty data from a few misguided scientists in no way refutes global warming and cannot be used to nullify the majority of research that confirms that our activities do influence the climate and drive global warming.  There is no better time to correct our mistakes and leave a clean environment and viable economy for our children.  Let us stop following the lunacy of these self-centered and greedy cavemen.  Let's use this opportunity to drive a powerful and green economic recovery.
